The Opening Ceremonies is an informal get together at the Royal Lahaina Ali room for all tournament staff, officials, parents, players and coaches. A welcoming ritual by the Mayor of Maui County to all the participants and also to celebrate the beginning of the tournament. A coaches meeting is held an hour prior to the Opening Ceremonies for the coaches to to address any questions regarding the tournament. by the directors of the tournament and by the Mayor of Maui. The Opening Ceremonies were capped off by a magnificent luau for over 1,000 people at the Royal Lahaina Resort. The setting, with the sun gently sinking against a backdrop of gorgeous beach and neighboring islands in the distance was almost as good as the food. There was an amazing assortment of all you can eat food including steak, teriyaki chicken, salmon, pork, pig and various vegetable and fruits. Also, there was an open bar which including fantastic tropical drinks. The setting, with the sun gently setting over the gorgeous beach and the neighboring islands in the background was breathtaking. The entertainment was almost as good as the food! Beautiful men and women performing native Hawaiian dances, a very humorous Master of Ceremonies and lots of group participation. The tournament dance is held at the Royal Lahaina Resort. The night was completely filled with electricity generated by over 300 participants. The Maui Summer Classic features a dance for all of the participants so that the coaches and parents can participate in the Outback Coaches Social. 2005 Outback Steakhouse Closing Ceremony at the Lahaina Civic Center was a great combination of succulent and plentiful food and native dancing. First in all divisions received a Bronze Signature ball along with beautiful individual embroidered Hoodies. Second place teams received unique picture box plaques with individual tournament sweatshirts. There were also some individual inspirational awards. The Mayor, the tournament staff and the staff of the Maui Department of Recreation were on hand to address the participants and to present the awards. Kahana Outback Steakhouse provided an endless supply of seasoned steak, chicken, salad and rice and the staff. Finally, as people ate, there were a spellbinding performance by a native dance group which ended in some audience participation. It was a fantastic close to a very successful tournament.
