2007 Tournament Results

The 2007 Maui Summer Classic Youth Basketball tournament held in Lahaina was invaded by the Seminoles of Florida. The success of it's youth basketball tournament spread quickly from teams that experienced an unbelievable event last year. Some of the highlights of the 2007 youth basketball tournament were on championship day, with Maui Magic winning its 3rd championship in 4 years by beating an all-star team from the Maui Sports Academy.  In the eight grade division the Pearl City Chargers from Oahu, Hawaii won their first championship after four attempts by defeating Kahului Falcons who was runner up two years in a row.

On the girl's side, the Lady Cardinals from Houston, Texas won all of it's pool games and look to be the favorite. But Lahainaluna Westside Club had other intentions with their twin towers and their quick sharp shooting guards they defeated the Lady Cardinals then defeated the Lady Seminoles from Florida to win the High School Division. The most exciting game came down to the Jr. Girls division where the the Lady Seminoles from Florida won with hands down against Cour d' Alene Storms. They were very talented and very skilled. The Lady Seminoles over powered all their opponents with their quickness, speed and size in every position. The Lady Seminoles is one of the best 8th grade girls that has played in this tournament and one of the best I've seen in the country.

A spectacular sunset oceanfront Luau, the participants sat back and feast on all the wonderful food and open bar and enjoyed the electrifying performances of the South Pacific performers.  The setting for the Luau was breathtaking, with the beautiful sunset in the background and soothing sounds of the waves from the beach. An Award Closing Ceremony feast with chicken sponsored by Maui County Parks.

Mahalo to the Mayor's Office and the County of Maui Parks and Recreations Department for their major partnership in supporting the tournament.  Click on any of the photos on this page to view more pictures of all the youth basketball tournament events.

The Maui News and Lahaina News have covered the tournament and illustrated the excitement the youth basketball tournament brings to the city of Maui.  Read what coaches, various participants and parents are saying about their experiences in the Tournament Testimonials.
